I quit my job

Last week when I took Fi to school, I saw her teacher speak to several children in a way that was horrible. He obviously had favorites and ones he didn't like. He may have been having a bad day, but that isn't allowed (to the extent I saw) when you are the main adult around two and a half to four year olds. The secondary teacher didn't even react when he was talking to the kids, so to me that says that it is something that happens with some frequency.

So, the next day I quit my job and she is no longer in daycare. It is a relief. Of course, when it comes time to pay the bills next time it won't be fun, but we will manage.

WOW! What a brave and selfless decision. It must have taken a lot of courage and love to do that. I really admire you for making that tough call and sticking with what you feel is right for you and your family! Bravo!

That is a big decision. But I am sure that Fi will appreciate it in the years to come. And I can understand your reaction very well. Someone working with such small children should really know better than to act like that.

That was a very brave and selfless thing to do, but I am sure all will turn out well in the end and Fi will adore having you around!

I wish my Mum had done that when I had a horrid teacher at school. It still affects me, but now I'm all grown up (?!) I can see the teacher must have had real personal problems, and was basically a bully. I keep a close eye on my kids at school, and would probably react just as you did.

Thanks Rebecca, I really appreciate hearing about your experience. It is funny, but you mentioned in an earlier comment that you thought about piercing your nose. I thought about that a lot, too. I saw a woman who had both sides pierced, one day and I really liked the symmetry of it. I could never find a piece of jewelry that I liked though. It is probably for the best, though, because having a 3 year old around who has a cold every other week and then gives it to me for the next week would make for quite a mess.

What a big life change.

Your daughter is lucky to have you.

I'm sure you made a good decision. Me and my husband both have part-time jobs and we always made sure someone's at home when the kids were little. They are teenagers now but we still are here as much as we can.

I'm sure it will be difficult sometimes but it will be worth while in the end.
